Each flower is individually and purposely painted. And placed in her painting to strengthen the composition as a whole, not to fill the canvas.Doreen’s unique painting style transforms blank canvases into colourful luminous and gracefully painted bouquets.
Her compositions are not the typical ball or triangular, still life arrangement, but are very often free form and appear to grow within the canvas as they would in nature. Her medium of choice is acrylic; a medium that she says gives her versatility and freedom while painting. It allows her to work quickly and dramatically. She also has produced works in oils and watercolour.
Doreen has studied oils under artist Helen Donnelly, watercolour under artist Sue Marentette and acrylics and mixed mediums under artist Dennis Smith.
Paintings of hers can be found in England, Australia, British Columbia, Toronto and the United States.
