Kathleen Pistor
is a representational artist who currently resides in Windsor, ON and McGregor Bay, ON. She was born Kathleen Kissick, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where she spent her formative years, forever influencing her love of the North. Kathleen holds a Fine Arts degree (B.A., Hons) from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education specializing in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario. During her 37-year teaching career she taught Visual Arts and Art History, introducing students to a variety of styles and mediums from the ancient world to present day, and encouraging students to cultivate their own techniques and interests. Kathleen herself has worked confidently with many subjects, styles, and mediums throughout her career, but has always been most passionate about capturing the Georgian Bay landscape via watercolour and acrylic in both miniature and large scale. She is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists. In 2019 Kathleen won 1st place for Acrylic Painting in the La Cloche juried Art Show, 3rd place overall in the ARA juried art show in Windsor and was accepted into the New Market Juried Art Show three years in a row (2019, 2020, 2021). In 2020 her painting "For the Love of Georgian Bay" won Best Waterscape at Paint Ontario. In 2021 "In The Spirit of Tom Thomson" came in 1st place in the People’s Choice Award at the Perivale Gallery's annual show. In 2022 she was accepted into the La Cloche juried Art Show, the Perivale Gallery annual show where her painting of Lake Topaz was shown on promotions for Northern Tourism, and was exhibited at the Gibson Gallery in Amherstburg, Ontario. In 2023 she was accepted into the La Cloche juried Art Show and the Perivale Gallery annual show and placed in the People’s Choice Awards. Kathleen also displays her paintings in several galleries in Northern Ontario. 2024 she got into Paint Ontario, The Lacloche Juried Art Show, and the Perivale Gallery Annual Show In the Spirit of Tom Thomson.
In addition to her love of painting, she is also an active jewelery designer, using her skills as a silver and copper smith, and creating beaded works from precious and semi-precious stones. |
