The ARA is a Windsor area art group comprised of Representational Artists whose members assist and support each other through the participation in local art shows and events, member workshops and demonstrations, and the opportunity to network with other artists. The Association of Representational Artists(ARA) was formed in 1978 by a group of Windsor and area artists with a desire to learn and work together in support of the art community. Our goal is to maintain high standards for the display and sale of each artists’ work.
What is Representational Art? Representational art consists of pictures that depict some recognizable thing or scene. It includes portraits, still lifes, and landscapes. It includes both realist art which attempts to reproduce the actual appearance of the things depicted, or an idealization thereof. Representational Art also encompasses expressionist art which depicts recognizable things, but in a way that incorporates an emotional reaction to them, without attempting literal reproduction of their appearance.
Simply Put, Representational Art leaves no doubt in the viewer's mind what they see.
