Barbara Mahoney has been involved with art all of her life. Her earliest classes began at the Windsor YWCA and Willistead Coach House with Sergio DePaoli. Later on she studied Chinese Watercolour Techniques with Alice Hsieh , Ning Yeh and Diana Kan.
She has taken several workshops with Windsor’s own Julia Conlon , and recently with Dennis K. Smith of LaSalle, watercolour painters Jack Reid, Ariel Lyons, Brian Atyeo, and Art Cunanan.
Barb has shown in many ARA group shows plus she was the featured artist for the Celtic Festival and has shown at the Capital Theatre. Barb has shown her work at the Gibson Galllery in Amherstburg and began an art group for the American Society of Cytopathology and has exhibited since 1999 in a show called Art For Advocacy. In additon to receiving two awards, the proceeds from these sales went to cancer charities.
For me art is one of life’s necessities – not a luxury! Landscapes are a favorite subject for me to paint - especially the mountains!
