Trudy Dempsey - Portrait Artist
Margaret Holmes
A Windsor born Canadian with roots in Ireland and Southern England, with an ancestor having contributed his skills towards the building of Exeter cathedral.
"Being a mother of a daughter, and now grandmother to two grandchildren, my passion for painting really budded with the arrival of my first grandchild. Now I have the joy of capturing special moments in their lives in my paintings." A continuing and ever more developing interest led to involvement with the arts community, both here and in Nova Scotia. Recent travels have greatly expanded her artistic and historical experiences, loves to see and experience old and new artists first hand or face-to-face. In most of my paintings I have signed my name Margaret Holmes, as well as a second signature. The second signature is hidden somewhere in the painting, as "Darling". This signature came about with the birth of my first grandchild. Unable to say "Grandma", Joshua picked up the word "Darling" from me saying that he was Grandma's Darling. To this day, I am still Darling to both of my granchildren, Joshua 21 and Felicia 18.Favourite themes: Children at play and in all kinds of situations of life. Miniatures. Old world/old times scenes.
