Trudy Dempsey - Portrait Artist
I do not subscribe to the notion that my Art must be more than decorative. I do not believe that my Art must raise questions or seek resolutions. What do I want? I want to see patrons taken into a world of their own memories or emotions... or be drawn into work that shows hints of mastery, accomplishment and the promise of merit.
You see, every painting I paint is both the problem and the solution to my life's work. The "problem" being - I am not as good as I want to be. The "solution" is in the work itself. It is the practice each piece gives. Each work is an investment into my future virtuosity and my search for excellence. It is the hard work behind the scenes, the daily practice that goes unnoticed by all except those closest to the Artist. BIOGRAPHY IN BRIEF Profitable professional work in Art is scarce. Bills have to be paid. So, Nancy achieved a Business & Registered Nursing Degrees to earn a living and, for years, Art remained a recreational pursuit. Then in 2000 a professional opportunity arose with the publication of her medical illustrations for nursing practice guidelines. The return to Full-time Artist occurred in late 2013. Nancy is equally comfortable in watercolours and acrylics. She is best known for her still-life pieces, wildlife paintings and portraits. Her paintings of teacups has been described as exquisite. |
