Sophie Stoyshin was raised in the Windsor area. Her earliest form of art training took place at the Coach House in Willistead Manor. While attending high school, she also studied at Arts and Crafts Schools of Art in Detroit, Michigan. At that time she was enrolled in Life Drawing and Fashion Illustration. During her twenties, she was engaged in the Fine Arts Program at the University of Windsor. Presently she is taking private classes in oil painting.
Her favourite medium is oil. She also works in pencil, pastels, charcoal, India Ink and watercolour. Her original works of art have been exhibited at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Met Hospital, The Serbian Museum, The Riverside Library, The Gibson Gallery. Currently she has paintings and note cards for sale at the Gibson.
Sofie is a member of the ARA and the Windsor Art Gallery. For several years she has been a volunteer for the gallery, the YMCA and Windsor's Civic Beautification Awards Program. For manY years she has sold her paintings but also has donated to charitable associations. In the past, she has attended floral arranging at St. Clair and stained glass. Her passion for gardening has won her several awards. She has a private studio and works at home. Commissions are welcome.
